A prefix used to indicate that a molecule with two (or more)
chiral elements is present as a mixture of the two
racemic diastereoisomers in unspecified proportions. For example, the dipeptide formed from
l-alanine and
dl-leucine is
l-alanyl-
ambo-leucine.
