Term used by some authorities to refer to @S05983@ resulting from the arrangement of out-of-plane groups with respect to a plane (@C01058@ @C01062@). It is exemplified by the @A00511@ of (E)-cyclooctene (@C01057@ plane = double bond and attached atoms) or monosubstituted paracyclophane (@C01057@ plane = substituted ring). The configuration of molecular entities possessing planar @C01058@ is specified by the stereodescriptors \(R_{\text{p}}\) and \(S_{\text{p}}\) (or \(P\) and \(M\)).
