A reaction in which one or more reactive reaction @I03096@ (frequently radicals) are continuously regenerated, usually through a repetitive cycle of elementary steps (the '@P04881@ step'). For example, in the chlorination of methane by a radical @M03804@, Cl· is continuously regenerated in the chain @P04881@ steps:
