The @C00874@ of a chemical reaction by a series of @B00744@ (which may include the solvated hydrogen ion) so that the rate of the catalysed part of the reaction is given by \(\sum k_{\text{HA}}\ [HA]\) multiplied by some function of @S06082@ concentrations. (The acids HA are unchanged by the overall reaction.) General @C00874@ by acids can be experimentally distinguished from @S05796@ by hydrogen cations (@H02904@) by observation of the @R05156@ as a function of buffer concentration.
