A CW or pulsed source of @[email protected] in which the @[email protected] is usually a solution of a fluorescent organic molecule (the dye) pumped with a suitable pump @[email protected] or with a flash @[email protected] These lasers can be tuned over a large part of the @[email protected] band of the dye.
