Used in the thermal @[email protected] of heavy (high @[email protected]) @[email protected] to smaller (low @[email protected]) @[email protected]; high pressures of hydrogen and a special @[email protected] are employed. Sulfur compounds in the fuel are reduced to H2S, and the final hydrocarbon product can be obtained relatively sulfur-free.
