A high-frequency @M03732@ in which the ions to be detected, with a selected value of the quotient mass/charge, absorb maximum energy through the effect of a high-frequency electric field and a constant magnetic field perpendicular to the electric field. Maximum energy is gained by the ions which satisfy the @C01509@ @R05326@ condition and as a result they are separated from ions of different mass/charge.
