The atmospheric shell lying just above the @[email protected] which is characterized by an increasing temperature with altitude. The stratosphere begins at the @[email protected] (about \(10-15\ \text{km}\) height) and extends to a height of about \(50\ \text{km}\), where the lapse rate changes sign at the @[email protected] and the beginning of the @[email protected]
