The measure ($$\text{h}^{-1}$$,$$\text{d}^{-1}$$) of the rate of growth or multiplication of an organism or a culture, usually expressed as specific growth rate (the increase of mass or cell number per time unit referred to the unit of mass, $$\frac{\text{d}(\ln X)}{\text{d}t}$$).
